Professional Fees
The professional fees are usually calculated in four different ways;
A percentage of total construction works cost (excluding VAT, soft furnishing, landscaping, contribution fees etc). This is the most common type of fees the Architects charge. The fees vary from 6.5% to 12%, and depend on the size, complexity and the scope of services required. Usually the typical Extension and Refurbishment project between €100k and €200k is 8.5%. Larger Extensions and more complex refurbishment projects are between 7.5% and 8.4% and new House design between 6.5% and 9%.
Interior Design services (where the furnishing costs are included) are between 12.5% and 18% per project, and again – depending on the complexity and specifications.
Fixed Fee (Lump Sum). This is usually an amount of money agreed between the Client and their Architects for the works. This is the most sought fee agreement from the Client’s perspective as it allows to clearly identify the sum required for their budgeting purpose. However this arrangement might only be discussed once the scope of work and complexity of the project are agreed in detail.
Time Rate (hours or work-days). This is usually proposed for specific tasks like Measured Survey, Condition Reports, Pre-Planning meetings in Local County Council, feasibility studies. Our Hourly rate is €180 per hour and daily rate is €1,100 per day work (8 hours).
Fee per Room. Where the project only is required for the Interior Design, without the detailed specifications, schedules and lists, and showing only the location of furnitures, appliances, proposed floor and wall finishes then this fee agreement would be ideal for you.
We also charge Outlay Costs (expenses and additional costs). These are costs for printing, copying, planning fees, postage, time and distance for travel.
