COFFEE SHOP PORTABLE CONTAINER in cooperation with Griffith College Design Faculty students
A challenging and demanding project.
For an Architect, Interior Designer and Landscape Designer in one person. The power of imagination turns 3 portable containers into a cosy beach eatery worth style and character. Family, friends or a walk with dogs – everyone will be delighted and gathered for. Would you drop in for fish and chips? All aboard!

BRIEF & CONCEPT
Idea of the coffee shop portable container was to fit the venue smoothly into local environment, so that it would blend in through it’s outlook, name, orally sourced menu and overall atmosphere. Those would be a stop on a beach walk, for families, walkers, the elderly, children and pets alike. Quick coffee, tasty fish. Evening parties in good company of the name ‘Fish and Ship’ (sound more like popular local takeaway fish & chips) came right up. The only obstacle was that the 3 red, angular, corrugated steel containers were not easily blending in with sandy, grassy landscape. But – wait a moment – just a day before I took a photo of a crimson boat on Dollymount Strand, just half a mile down from our planning site. The containers were exactly matching it’s shade! So the containers will be representing cabin of a beached ship.
This is how I came up with creating the ship’s deck, a boardwalk for people, who enjoying the views stopped for a cuppa or running from the rain after a wonderful Bull Island stroll got caught in the hunger by lovely smell and dropped in for a fresh, local, delicious dinner.

BRANDING FOOD IS FUN – FOOD IS EDUCATION, FOOD IS CULTURE.
We want to capture our clients and draw the mind with a vibrant, energetic, courageous colour of RED. Complementing this powerful RED we’ve used different shades of cyan.
OBJECTIVE: Bull Island Fish & Ship container will be the latest offering of simply amazing fish and chips in a environment good for the soul. This ambitious new experience brings together humans of all ages and backgrounds, reintroducing the art of conversation and face-to-face interaction. Our starting point in logo development and branding was THE FISH, vital in Irish cuisine. Bringing back to mind the classic fish and chips place, wrapped in paper and siting on the beach.
SOLUTION: We developed a concept, focusing on the Irish culture of having fun at the seaside, eating fresh food that has been caught in the sea that we’re overlooking, while sitting in a new age contemporary café style chip shop.
Sustainability, innovation and authenticity in the choice of materials is evident. Bringing a uniquely Irish slightly off-beat sense of humour into our concept too, our brand promises to offer our customer a friendly space to interact, relax and enjoy, being surrounded by new and old friends while eating fresh Irish produce in a comfortable setting with undoubtedly amazing views of Dublin.
